Our daily business involves sourcing raw materials of optimal quality and protecting them from contamination through demanding logistics until they are processed in our refinery.
Most of our oils come directly from oil mills worldwide and are transported after the first processing step in sealed Food-Grade ISO containers. They are only opened at our Swiss plant in Lyss. The transport is monitored in real-time by satellite to prevent contamination along the supply chain. This is ensured by direct contracts with oil mills and our own on-site inspectors and the use of sealed Food-Grade containers to protect the raw materials until they are processed in the refinery.
Trend oils of the highest quality, such as omega-3 rich linseed- oil or hemp oil, are in high demand. Omega-3 oils, in particular, present a special challenge in processing due to their high oxidation potential and must therefore be processed with extra care. For highly pure and sensitive specialty products like baby food, we use the short-path distillation method. This process preserves valuable nutrients during the refining of edible oils and prevents process contaminants. For fish and algae oils, this gentle method achieves a particularly high yield of valuable omega-3 fatty acids.
The success of this procurement strategy can be measured in our quality laboratory through detailed performance profiles for each newly arrived raw oil.
